Partner mode: pregnancy, shared on two iPhones.

What the partner sees

• This week, together. The same week number, baby-size comparison and weekly baby illustration that the mother sees, on the partner’s own Home screen.
• Shared photos. Belly-timeline photos and ultrasound pictures, including ones added before you linked.
• More than 50 weekly ideas. Small, practical ways to help from week 6 to week 40 — cook dinner, book the hospital tour, install the car seat. New ideas unlock as the weeks arrive, and the mother sees when an idea is done.
• Her wishlist. The mother adds little wishes; the partner can tick them off.
• Reactions. Hearts and emoji in both directions, each with a gentle notification.
• Milestones and achievements as the pregnancy moves on.

What stays private to the mother

Partner mode is read-only and deliberately limited. The partner app does not include:

• the private journal and reflection prompts,
• mood, symptoms, weight, hydration, sleep and other health records,
• kick-counting sessions and the contraction timer log (the partner only gets a notification when the daily kick goal is reached),
• the hospital-bag checklist and baby-name favourites.

The mother’s journal, kicks, contractions and health logs are stored only on her iPhone. What is shared with a linked partner — photos, the wishlist, ideas and reactions — is synced through Elara’s servers so it can reach the partner’s phone. See the privacy policy for details.

Notifications the partner receives

• a “new week” message each week from week 5 to week 40,
• a new appointment added by the mother (date and title),
• a new belly photo or ultrasound picture,
• a new wish on the wishlist,
• the daily kick goal reached,
• “baby has arrived”, reactions, and a reminder after several days without opening the app.

There is no automatic “labour has started” alert — agree between you how the mother will let the partner know. Most notifications pause if the mother turns on gentle mode after a pregnancy loss.

How to invite your partner

1. Mother: open Elara → Settings → Partner. You will see an 8-character code (letters and numbers, shown in two groups of four) and a QR code.
2. Share it in whichever way is easiest: send the invite link from the share button, let your partner scan the QR code, or read the code out loud.
3. Partner: install Elara from the App Store and sign in with Apple or Google. A sign-in is needed so the link is tied to the right people.
4. Connect: tap “I’m the partner — connect”, then scan the QR code or type the code. If Elara is already installed, opening the invite link on the iPhone connects automatically.

Codes are valid for 15 minutes and refresh automatically, so an old screenshot will not work — share the current one. Invite links look like elarapregnancy.com/i/ABCD2345; opened on a phone without Elara, the link shows the code and a link to the App Store.

What it costs

Elara is a free download with an optional Premium subscription. The partner does not need a separate subscription: their access is included while the mother has Premium or an active trial. If the mother uses the free plan, the partner can try the partner app once for five minutes; after that the partner screens pause and unlock automatically when she subscribes. Inviting a partner is free for everyone. Elara has no ads.

Requirements and limits

• Both people need an iPhone with iOS 18 or later. There is no Android, iPad or web version.
• One partner per pregnancy, and a partner can follow one pregnancy at a time.
• Either person can unlink at any time; the other gets a notification.
• Elara is available in more than 25 languages, and each person can use their own.
